"60 Minutes" set out to discredit a blogger; didn't quite work out the way they planned

Most non-Democrats know that the "mainstream media" is totally in the tank for Democrats.  Sometimes this is screamingly obvious, as when CBS’s Scott Pelley interviewed blogger/author/lawyer Mike Cernovich on "60 Minutes" recently. The full, unedited interview is fascinating for what it reveals about Pelley--the so-called "anchor" on the CBS Evening News, which is allegedly watched by six and a half million viewers. 

It begins like this:
    CBS news anchor Scott Pelley:  How would you describe what you do?

    Mike Cernovich:  I’m a lawyer, author, filmmaker and journalist.

    Scott Pelley:  And how would you describe your website?

    Mike Cernovich:  It goes against the dominant narrative.

    Scott Pelley:  What’s the dominant narrative?

    Mike Cernovich:  The dominant narrative is that there are good guys, and there are bad guys. The narrative claims the good guys are all liberals, while everybody on the right is a bad guy.  It tries to find a way to make those on the right look bad.  That’s the narrative.

    Scott Pelley: That’s not a narrative I’m familiar with. Whose narrative is that?

"Whose narrative is that", Scott?  Well, in 2008 you compared global warming skeptics to Holocaust deniers.  Is that "being objective," or is that a "narrative"?  If the latter, whose narratie is it?  Do you know enough physics to evaluate the date yourself?

If you don't, whose opinion are you simply echoing?  Whose "narrative" indeed.

Ben Rhodes, who was selected by Obama--at age 26, with no experience whatsoever--as his deputy national security advisor, is the brother of CBS News president David Rhodes.  But we're confident that had nothing to do with his selection.

John Dickerson, who hosts Face the Nation for CBS and whose formal title is “political director” for that POS network, wrote an article for Slate in 2013 charmingly titled “Go for the Throat! Why if he wants to transform American politics, Obama must declare war on the Republican Party.”

Katie Couric--who anchored CBS evening news before Pelley--read a poem on her broadcast pushing for Obamacare to be made a law.

Back to Pelley's interview with Cernovich:

    Scott Pelley:  You wrote in August a story about Hillary Clinton’s medical condition.  The headline was “Hillary Clinton has Parkinson’s disease. Physician confirms.” That’s quite a headline.

    Mike Cernovich: Yeah, Dr. Ted Noel had sent a story to me anonymously, that I checked out, analyzing her medical condition. And –

    Scott Pelley: It isn’t true.

    Mike Cernovich: How do you know?

    Scott Pelley: Well, she doesn’t seem to have any signs of Parkinson’s disease.

    Mike Cernovich: She had a seizure and froze up walking into her motorcade that day.  It was caught by a citizen with a cell phone.  Did you not see the video?

    Scott Pelley:  Well, she had pneumonia. I mean –

    Mike Cernovich: How do you know she had pneumonia?

    Scott Pelley: Well, because that’s what was reported.

    Mike Cernovich: By whom? Who told you that?

    Scott Pelley: Well, the campaign told us that.

    Mike Cernovich: Why would you trust a campaign?

‘Why would you trust a campaign’?  Neither Pelley nor CBS nor any media (propaganda) outlet trusts a statement made by the Trump campaign, or by the CEO of a company, but Pelley totally trusts a statement by the Democrat candidate's campaign.  Why?

    Mike Cernovich: You just claimed she’s healthy--but based only on an assertion made by her campaign people.  It’s a double-standard:  The media tells the public that everything Trump says is a lie, but you echo any statement made by a Democrat without questioning or challenging them. 

    Scott Pelley: Why should anyone take you on your word?

    Mike Cernovich:  You should always double-check. You should always fact check. And if people don’t agree with me, people express that disagreement, and I’m completely, completely open to criticism.

The liberal media challenge every statement by Republians, but unquestioningly repeat any statement made by Demorats.  Interesting.

When “60 Minutes” wanted to get to the bottom of “fake news,” they sent “CBS Evening News” anchor Scott Pelley to interview Mike Cernovich.

Here’s why: Cernovich, one of the best-known personalities of the Trump Internet, has accused the Clinton campaign of participating in a satanic sex cult. He believed Hillary Clinton was secretly sick with some sort of neurological condition that should have disqualified her from being president.  His Twitter feed and website are a relentless stream of unproven accusations and theories about the left, the establishment or others whom Cernovich sees as an enemy. He embodies everything that Pelley, and many other journalists, would consider to be the most dangerous sector of the “fake news” Internet.

But Cernovich won the faceoff. Pelley showed up prepared to fact check Cernovich’s many unsubstantiated claims. Cernovich, meanwhile, arrived prepared to do what he does best: reject Pelley’s facts and their sources, and simply substitute his own, adding his characteristic mixture of contempt and performed apathy for everything that he believes Pelley represents.

 

“She had a seizure and froze up walking into her motorcade,” Cernovich said of Clinton. Pelley rebutted that “she had pneumonia.” Pelley’s answer had the bulk of credible evidence behind it. But when Cernovich asked how he knew she had pneumonia, Pelley responded with the least helpful retort he could have given to a man who says he believes the Clintons are literally part of a satanic sex ring: “Well, the campaign told us that.” Cernovich asked, “Why would you trust the campaign?”
