A Nebraska Democratic Party official was caught on tape saying he's “glad” House Majority Whip Steve Scalise got shot last week.  Phil Montag went on to say he wished Scalise was dead.

“His whole job is to get people, convince Republicans to [expletive] kick people off [expletive] health care. I’m glad he got shot,” Montag said in the audio recording. “I wish he was [expletive] dead.”

The audio was posted on YouTube.  The chair of Nebraska's Democratic party confirmed to FOX 42 that the voice on the audio recording was Montag’s.

“We obviously condemn any kind of violence whether it’s comments on Facebook or comments in a meeting,” said the chairwoman. “Our country is better than the political rhetoric that is out there from both the far right and the far left.”

Notice how deftly she condemned the "right" for hateful rhetoric from her own party?  Nice.

Montag later said his words were taken out of context and he was actually "horrified" by the shooting.  “I did not call for the congressman’s death,” Montag reportedly said.

Y'know, it used to be that if a shit-eating politician said something awful that was caught on tape, and later the same pol tried to deny having said it, people would rightly dismiss the guy as a POS.  But in our new, improved era, Democrats do this all the time and no one calls 'em out for it.

It's almost like it's become so routine that no one even notices.

Kinda like "If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor."  Or "If you like your insurance plan you can keep it."  Or "The average family will SAVE $2,500 every years with my health-care plan!"

Ya have t' wonder how the bar for unacceptable lies by politicians get moved, eh?
